Greetings Everyone, One core aspect to Space Wars is the Space Station. This is where you as a captain will manager your officers and select or acquire your ship. This is your central hub from which you will be operating to conquering territory for your faction. For the first time we are showing the Space Stations for the Genari and Sol. These are key logistical points in the game that need to be protected at all costs. If one is destroyed players for that faction will need to travel longer distances to reach the front lines.
really like the tactical implications of this. Do they act like a fortress IE with strong defensive capabilities? Really love Genari artwork
The stations pictured above are the largest forms of stations -- Genari's Shahavi homeworld station around Saneth, and Sol's Earth homeworld station around Earth.
Sol has six different types of stations, Genari has four. They do act as fortresses, and some are also spawn points and shipyards. Most of them have very strong defensive capabilities: SOL Earth Homeworld Naval Headquarters Orbital Defense Station Size: Class XIII Armament: 40 Plasma Beams, 4 Plasma Warheads Hull Points: 600 *The largest base, only found around Earth. Spawn point, with shipyard. Windsor Planetary Command Base Size: Class XII Armament: 28 Plasma Beams Hull Points: 395 *Found around the planets of all key star systems. Spawn point, with shipyard. Himjei Border Defense Station Size: Class XI Armament: 16 Plasma Beams, 8 Plasma Warheads Hull Points: 290 *Placed at strategic points near the border, they act as fortresses that only fleets of larger ships could take on. Can repair ships. Vesuvius Heavy Weapons Platform Size: Class X Armament: 12 Plasma Beams Hull Points: 164 *Commonly found around rogue planets or asteriods at the borders. Deterrent against large ships. Greenland Deep Space Monitoring Station Size: Class VIII Armament: 4 Plasma Beams Hull Points: 95 *Weak on the offensive, it has massive sensors that detect anything coming into the region. Commonly found at the border. Etna Light Weapons Platform Size: Class VI Armament: 8 Laser Beams Hull Points: 39 *Commonly found around rogue planets or asteriods at the borders. Deterrent against raiders and smaller ships. GENARI Shahavi Genari Star Headquarters Size: Class XIII Armament: 32 Heavy Laser Beams, 24 Fission Warheads Hull Points: 503 *The largest base, only found around Saneth. Spawn point, with shipyard. Marguzsh Planetary Superbase Size: Class XII Armament: 24 Heavy Laser Beams, 12 Fission Warheads Hull Points: 368 *Found around the planets of all key star systems. Spawn point, with shipyard. Kalah Border Battlestation Size: Class XI Armament: 16 Laser Beams, 12 Fission Warheads Hull Points: 251 *Placed at strategic points near the border, they act as fortresses that only fleets of larger ships could take on. Can repair ships. Sanethi Frontier Battlestation Size: Class X Armament: 12 Heavy Laser Beams, 4 Fission Warheads Hull Points: 171 *Commonly found around rogue planets or asteriods at the borders. Deterrent against large ships. Very common, can repair ships.
If a player ascends to the highest ranking of Fleet Admiral/Empress' First on a server, they can use their accumulated XP to rebuild stations. Marines can try taking over stations, but with the monstrous number of crew on these stations, it would be virtually impossible.
Yes, though the weakest station crew-wise would be the Sol Light Weapons Platform, which has 224 crew members. It would take at least 100 Genari Marines to successfully take it over. But the general rule is that when a ship is taken over, it moves under only 10% power under enemy control, and cannot fire weapons. (Reading the book will explain why)
All of the stations are comprised of modules. These modules are one of the factors that dictate the class of the stations. Below is a breakdown of the modules that comprise the Genari stations.
And I take it that these things can communicate that they are under attack? What sort of defences do they have, can they fire back? What sort of sensor range?
Indeed when the region they are in is under attack, you see it indicated on the map. Though usually there's somebody there defending it. They have very strong defenses, usually the best force fields, tremendous about of hull points, and much larger sensors than normal ships. So there is a large detection radius around these stations (unless a moon/planet is blocking it). As for your other questions like weapons, scroll up!
You know on that shipyard page http://www.spacewars.com/the-shipyard where the ship cards are, could you make some of those for space stations? I'd love to compare stats.
Indeed I need to build many more ship cards. Those on the shipyard site are only a few of what's available. But I do build these things rather manually, on my free time. I'd like to make some shipyard cards for sure.
Those cards there can also be trading cards on Steam. A lot of people collect game cards that you get based on points & activity you have on the game you're playing.
